Short review: RS Feva Getronics Hungarian Championship 2019
Ten wonderful races, 16 registered teams are the scale of this year’s second RS Feva Hungarian Championship in HYA Harbor, Balatonfüred. RS Feva sailors were welcomed with a perfect weather from 28 June to 2 July 2019 at the RS Feva Getronics Hungarian Championship, organized by Hungarian Sailing Association and VGYE.
During the four days of the race, the outstanding race committee – with the exception of the first day – held the maximum 4 and 2 races on each race day, in 7-17 knot wind on the race track in front of Füred.
The final result of the Championship was open until the last day. Three of the first 4 boats were waiting for the last race day with absolutely equal points, and the fate of the championship was finally decided on Tuesday. In the afternoon, the jury had plenty of protests to deal with, even though the children were competing with great sportsmanship.
RS Feva’s Hungarian Champions this year was the Bendegúz Nagy – Péter Madár duo from BYC, Zsófia Tósoky – Noel Fülöpwon second place from BMF VSE, and the third place was taken by BYC Bence Sellei – Dániel Schultz from BYC. The tightness of the race is characterized by the fact that the difference between the first and fourth place was only 5 points, while the fifth team had 5 points plus with an early start in the last race of the championship.
In line with the traditions of the RS Feva class, the organizers also awarded the best teams, in which BYC won gold medal, while VGYE team won silver medal. The directors of the tournament awarded a special prize to the most successful youngest team (under the age of 12), which was won by the duo Bátor Göblyös-Sztrókay – Borbála Náray (from VGYE); the most successful female duo was Szonja Fekete – Hanna Fekete (VGYE); and the most successful mixed couple award was taken by Zsófia Tósoky – Noel Fülöp (BMF VSE). The awards were handed over to the children by the Secretary General of the Hungarian Sailing Association, András Holczhauser, who, in his speech, mentioned the great results of the RS Feva class in the last two years of its presence in Hungary.
At the end of this week, RS Feva Getronics Eurocup 2019 will be held in Balatonfüred as a continuation of the championship. We hope that the international units will be well represented in the international competition.
